In the 90th, Ukraine signed a treaty of non-proliferation and after many years of a secret life, the base of 46th missile Division near Pervomaisk was transformed into a Strategic Missile Forces Museum by the joint project of Ukraine, Russia and United States.
Join our private tour and explore disused silo launchers of SS-24 “Scalpel”, hear the nuclear alarm sirens and see how it feels to push the infamous red button! Retired soldiers will teach you about the history of their missile army and of the mighty Soviet nuclear arms.
Go through the open-air exposition and see one of once the most powerful missile R-36M2 “Governor”, nicknamed “Satan” which scared to death the USA and the whole world. In addition, learn more about rocket engines, auxiliary vehicles and mock nuclear warheads displayed at the different parts of the base. Currently, the museum has more than 2000 exhibit units and their number is constantly growing!
Then take a lift deep down and take one of the underground passages to get to the underground command post where you’ll have an opportunity to sit at the control panel and even press a combination of keys to perform the “start” of nuclear missile launch. Also during the tour you’ll discover unknown facts about life of the Strategic Missile Forces soldiers who had spent days in a complete isolation in the depths of nuclear silos.
