Located on the outskirts of Zhuliany Airport, the Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum is an absolute gem, with dozens of Soviet era aircraft and missiles with an opportunity to go inside selected ones (for a small extra fee). It’s a definite must for anyone visiting Kyiv and looking for something unusual to do!
Even if you’re not into aircraft and all other aeronautical things, we promise that your visit to the State Aviation Museum will become one of the highlights of your stay in the capital of Ukraine.
Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum is the youngest and, at the same time, the largest museum of Ukraine’s technological history. It was established in 2003, when its opening celebrated the major date – the100th anniversary of world aviation. The museum is located in the territory of the former Educational Air Base of National Aviation University and offers both aircraft exhibits and interactive displays. Established with only 30 planes 15 years ago, today the exposition includes over 90 aircraft and helicopters (and you can go inside the world largest helicopter Mi-26!). Jam-packed with all sorts of fantastic-looking flying machines, including passenger planes, fighter jets and unique helicopters, the museum is completely full to the rafters with aircraft that were all once in service of the mighty Soviet Air Force.
We guarantee that everyone, regardless of gender or age, really enjoys our short tour of the State Aviation Museum. It’s impossible not to get excited by the huge, aeronautical beasts on display! The place is also a dream for photographers and lovers of all things retro. Keep in mind that the museum’s location, next to the 2nd airport of Kyiv, is an added bonus for plane-spotters!
