This 7-hour Tour is one of the most interesting to take from Dnipro city. You will have the chance to learn about the development of Prydniprovsky region, to visit the central Soborny avenue of Zaporizhzhia, as well as the legendary Khortitsa Island and the museum of Cossacks history.
Zaporizhzhia has a special charm, as its buildings, in the so-called Stalin Empire-style, are decorated with elaborate patterns, classical columns, and porticos in the neoclassic spirit. One can admire many of them walking along the Soborny Avenue – the longest avenue in Europe! Zaporizhzhia has many museums and for tourists interested in WWII history we always suggest making a stop at the Weapon History Museum. Those interested in the development of Car Industry will admire a short stop at the Museum of Retro Automobiles.
In the post-war period, double-deck bridges were built over the Dnipro, connecting its banks. From one of these bridges we’ll catch the most splendid view of the “DniproHES” dam – the famous first Soviet hydro-electric power-station in USSR.
After that we take a short ride to the biggest island on the Dnipro river – Khortytsa Island (where we’ll have dinner in an old style restaurant) the former place of the famous Zaporozhskaya Sich -the main Cossack host (XVI-XVIII century) and an important center of Ukrainian statehood. And after exploring the History Museum of the Zaporizhian Cossacks tourists have an option of staying extra hour to enjoy a theatrical performance (available on certain days during summer season) of the horse theater ‘Zaporizhian Cossacks’.
We have to end our day tour here and take you back to your hotels, but keep in mind that Zaporizhzhia’s suburbs also hold many points of interests and it’s worth to stay overnight to continue touring the region the next day. There are numerous unique burial mounds covering the region. The most interesting one is the complex “Kamyana Mohyla” (literally, “Stone Tomb”), made up of huge boulders that used to be a sacral place for ancient inhabitants who lived here over twenty thousand years ago.
Once the largest in Europe, DniproHES is the oldest hydroelectric power station on the Dnipro River. It is said that the first blueprint of DniproHES appeared back in 1905, in the Russian Empire. But Emperor Nikolai II undervalued the perspectives of hydropower engineering, and the project was shelved. Twenty years later, however, Joseph Stalin expressed...

Historical Reserve Kamyana Mohyla (meaning Stone Grave in Ukrainian) is located about 100 km to the South from Zaporizhzhia near village Myrne on the picturesque banks of the Molochna River.
