Explore Dnipro with our professional English-speaking guide and learn about the most interesting moments of 300-year history of the city.
We begin tour by walking along Dmytro Yavornytsky Avenue – the most central and popular street in the city. Its roots trace back to the XVIII century when the avenue had the same name as the city – Ekaterinoslavky Avenue. Later it was renamed Karl Marx Avenue, and, in 2016 in accordance with decommunization in Ukraine, it became Dmytro Yavornytsky Avenue. The majority of the sightseeing spots of Dnipro are located on this street: Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum, Central Post Office and Dnipro National University. We’ll make a stop at the Potemkin Palace that is now part of the Dnipro National University complex and known as Student’s Palace. The history of the palace dates back to 1789 and closely intertwined with the Empress Catherine II, Grigory Potemkin, and the Masonic Order. Our next stop is the main Orthodox church of Dnipro – the Saviour’s Transfiguration (Preobrazhensky) Cathedral, created in traditions of Russian Classicism. In 1787, Empress Catherine the Great herself laid the foundation stone!
Later we’ll board a car and drive along a breathtaking 40 km long Quay built on the wave-built sand. The Sichoslavska embankment of the city is one of the most romantic spots in Ukraine. Installed in 2005 the White Swan Fountain made it even more marvellous. The height of the water jet reaches 50 meters!
At the end of the 3-hour tour we take you to Dnipro river parks, those are considered to be the monuments of landscape gardening of the XVIII century, and visiting Monastyrsky Island to discover legends of one the most interesting places in the city.
We end our tour here and ready to take you back to your hotel, BUT if you have a couple of hours to spare we can continue our tour and include a visit to the National Historical Museum that consists of 3 sections. Area outside the building is divided between an exhibit on the 2014 Russian annexation of the Crimea and a display of several Soviet weapons ranging from WW II to the present. Inside the building you’ll find one of the largest in the world Diorama Battle of Dnieper. Well worth a detour and some time spent in reflection!
